Huawei Honor Play Crazy Experience
Internet is full of articles and videos describing detailed specifications and one-to-one comparison of Huawei’s new mobile device the “Honor Play”. However, my article describes sequence of events that occured after placing the order which forced me to believe that Huawei is an absolutely untrustworthy organization.
Issues with Product Delivery
I received my device on 01-Sep-18, two days after placing the order. I received an SMS from their logistics partner Fed Ex India, requesting me to confirm if I would be available to accepted the delivery.
When I logged in to Fed Ex website I was surprised to note that the delivery address mentioned was incorrect. I promptly sent an email to Honor but there was no response from them. I also approached honor’s twitter handle but no word from them.
Thereafter, I approached their customer care executive through their chat facility, he asked to me get in touch with Fed Ex. I called up Fed Ex call center, since I called up during their closing minutes they were least interest in resolving my query.
However, I did receive my device as per the schedule. I do not know if this was because I updated the correct address mentioned in Fed Ex website or due to the address mentioned on the box. However, the very first interaction with Huawei / Honor was not good and I realized that Honor does not take its customer seriously
Discrepancy in Model Number
Once the mobile device reached I just wanted to check if everything thing is in order. I noticed that the model no mentioned on the device was different from the one indicated in their website.
On 01-Sep-18, I informed this discrepancy to their unresponsive customer care. This issue remains unresolved even after more than 13 email exchanges, sharing screenshots of device and their website, explaining the issue to their executives multiple number of times.
Honor informed me that the 4GB variant and 6GB variant have different numbers and tried to misrepresent facts. I had send them a tweet clarifying that they have poor knowledge of their product.
Thereafter, their email support team came up with bizarre justification and replied to my email stating that they have two model numbers for their device. The one that is mentioned on the device is external model number. But when I asked them to explain why internal model number is being displayed on their website they had no answer to my question.
Their last response on this issue was that they have forwarded my issue to the department concerned. Till to date their department has not responed.
Vodafone 10 GB offer
This is finally the most interesting one as it clearly establishes the fact that Huawei can go to any extent to fool its customers. As per their website Honor Play in India come bundled with 10 GB per month free data from vodafone. The website further describes terms and conditions to avail this offer.
After waiting for few days I checked my vodafone account and ascertained that no additional data offer has been applied to my profile. Considering the past experience with both email support and their twitter handle this time I approached Vodafone in advance. Their response actually shocked me. Vodafone clearly mentioned in their email that they are not aware of free data offer for Honor Play.
On receiving Vodafone’s reply I fired my next tweet to Honor twitter handle but I have not received any response from them. I also forwarded the complete response form Vodafone to Honor support team but once again on expected lines I am yet to receive any response form them.
On 11-Sep-18 I sent my last tweet. I marked this tweet almost to every Huawei / Honor twitter handle I could but they have maintained an absolute silence on this issue. According to me this is a pure and blatant lie from Honor India that needs to be exposed. In simple terms Honor is cheating its customer by putting up a fake 10 GB data offer. If this is a miscommunication between Huawei and Vodafone then after so many emails and tweets Honor should have made some attempts to ensure that its promise is fulfilled. But it seems that Honor does not want to honor its commitments.
Conclusion
Apart from the above issues Honor has also scouted controversy with benchmarking apps. Producing a good product and advertising it is not sufficient. It is also necessary that an organization responds to customer issues as and when they arise and resolve them to some level of customer satisfaction. Just because of poor management a good device is not getting its due recognition.
I wish someone at Huawei / Honor takes some corrective actions and stops cheating its customer.
